Hi, all!
The Big Bang mods are posting our milestone 30k Banner for use for all of you lovely participating authors who've hit the all-important 35,000-word mark on our milestone date of February 22nd! Here you go, kids - Congratulations to all of you who made it this far!

Thanks so much to Big Bang artist
red_rahl for our lovely artwork. Feel free to display this on your own website, LJ, or on your wall for instant encouragement!
We also want to remind all of you writers that the 40k milestone is just around the corner on 3/19. It's not necessary to have gotten that many words written in order to participate in the big bang, but it's a good idea to track your progress and the banners are our way of encouraging you on your journey.
Which leads me to our next topic: Author check-in! As a quick heads up, we'd like to know how many of you are participating and our on schedule to finish by next month's deadline (April 15th!!!!!!).
If you are still planning on submitting your fic to the challenge, please pop in over here on the official Big Bang forum and let us know! If you haven't had a chance to register and see our new community home, this is a great opportunity to do so as well.
_____
Finally, to all of our past participating artists: We would love to have each and every one of you join us again! We've been able to contact most of you, and hopefully you've all heard from us by now. If you haven't, be assured this is NOT because we don't love you, but because we might have outdated contact info for you.
What you need to do is register at the forums above. Once you've done that, we'll give you access to our artists forum. You then need to check in on our artists' confirmation thread! We need you guys to do this so we can have a head count of our final number of participating artists.
We hope you'll all join us there at the new Big Bang forums. They're friendly and fun and there's always something going on. Most importantly for BBB readers - the forums are where to go to find out about new updates. So head on over, look around, feel free to ask questions.
To all of you participating authors: Good luck!!!!

Hello all!
The moderators of
big_bang_hd have been getting questions about some things pertaining to the website, and since we never actually put out an APB on this, let me do so now:
The Big Bang Challenge website has moved. The new website is here. Please update your links to http://bigbang.inkubation.net if you have not already done so. The splash page will link you to both Big Bang challenges - Original and Endgame.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that after the dust has settled from HP7, there will most likely be a Big Bang 3. Because Shaggy and Reena and I - we're nutters.
:)

We've now responded to everyone who submitted a fic for the challenge. If you submitted a fic and did not receive an acknowledgement, then we did not receive it. Thanks!
Deadline Reminder!
Dec. 21st, 2005 09:24 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I'm sure all you hardworking writers are very much aware that the deadline for rough draft
big_bang_hd submissions is only 10 days away (that's January 1st), but we would be remiss if we didn't mention it anyway. ;)
When you're ready to submit, please e-mail a Word or Text document to us at bigbangchallenge@gmail.com. In your email it would also be helpful if you identified 4-6 scenes you would most like to see illustrated, both by description and page number. Final, beta'd drafts are still due February 1st!
Thanks, Happy Holidays, and Good Luck to everyone who's finishing up their entries!

Hmmmm. Just checking in, because it appears to be my day for it.
How are we doing, eager
big_bang_hd participants? I know a bunch of you are writing at different paces, some of you have just started, some of you are panicking because you aren't far enough along...
Mind if I ask you how you're coming? Are the deadlines posing a problem for people? Are there any of you who are frustrated by any part of the writing process? How many of you have sort-of unofficially quit already? How many of you are still holding back, afraid to really begin?
The deadline is currently set in stone, but that doesn't mean that we want to torture you into turning in a project you're not proud of. What can we as mods, what can you as writers, do to help you/each other out?
Chat us up. We're all here to listen.

So. Many would-be writers of the original Big Bang Challenge indicated in our follow-up poll that they wished they'd had more support from this community throughout the process. Your mods discussed how exactly that could be accomplished and decided that, during the next month or so, we could post some open discussion topics on how you all are envisioning various aspects of the wizarding world, post-HBP. Hopefully this will help some writers see through the fog of their own mental landscape. If you have a topic you'd like to see covered, or suggestions for how else we might support our writers, please let us know!
Topic: Hogwarts
How do you see Hogwarts in the year after Death Eaters breach the school's defenses, murdering its headmaster with the help of Hogwarts own student and staff member?
Will children return? Which parents are more likely to trust in the school ( e.g. purebloods, muggles, by house affiliation, etc.)
How is McGonagall likely to approach her new position as headmistress? What will her primary concerns be?
Will the Ministry interfere, and how?
How will Slytherin house fare, with their head of house and a popular student complicit in Dumbledore's murder? What is Slughorn's role likely to be?
…?
This community has 400 watchers, so here's your chance to contribute! Don't be shy. Who knows, your cracked-out theory might just inspire your favorite writer!

About the Artists' Challenge
Aug. 22nd, 2005 10:52 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Hello, everyone! Firstly, I just want to say how excited I am to see so many people excited about the second run of the Big Bang. It's thrilling to be an H/D fan after book 6, isn't it?
We have received a number of requests from some very talented artists who are interested in drawing for our fics. This is the part where I say that there are an absolutely staggering number of fabulous artists in the Harry Potter fandom. Your 3 mods spent literally hours agonizing over the fact that we wanted to invite basically the entire artistic fandom. At some point we realised that inviting anymore artists would mean a challenge far too huge and weighty for us to handle. It's just too many people.
If we didn't invite you it is not because we didn't like your art. (Trust me. Us/Fanart=OTP.) But because of the size of the project, we are denying requests to join the community; we simply cannot handle more art than our current 26 artists will produce.
However: this does not mean that you cannot still participate.
When the site is launched on Feb. 14, we will make a master post for each submitted fic, allowing fans to review the fics and post any fanart. So keep watching the community and have your pens out on Valentine's Day!
As always, don't hesitate to use this post for suggestions/questions/comments.

The Big Bang: A gigantic explosion; the origins of our universe.
The Big Bang, Baby Challenge: To write the definitive 7th year Harry/Draco fic. As JKR's saga closes, our boys are each caught in a maelstrom, struggling to survive what will be the destruction, or the rebirth, of the Wizarding World. For six years their orbits have intersected, and their stories cannot be completed without one final, explosive confrontation.
Our Philosophy:
Half-Blood Prince breathed new life into our ship's sails, and we feel there's no time like the present to begin exploring, in-depth, the wealth of possibilities for Harry and Draco, and for their relationship with each other, whatever form it ultimately takes.
Beyond the obvious subtext, HBP provided a subtle but fundamental shift in both boys' perceptions. Old, petty concerns now seem inconsequential; the Slytherin-Gryffindor rivalry no longer central in shaping their interactions. They have been set on their own separate journeys, but for the first time ever, need each other in practical ways.
The boys are growing up, and it is now that they have to make choices that will show who they are. It is now that they choose their paths and shape the final direction of their destinies. No more children's rivalry, Quidditch matches, or House Cup competitions; no more love-potions, shared detentions, or chance meetings in Astronomy Tower -- this is for real.
This is the story Harry and Draco have been waiting for, and the endgame happens now.
The Rules:
